DIRECT ACTING
How Direct Acting Solenoid Valves Work
When the coil is energized, a magnetic force is generated, attracting the armature towards the fixed core. Inside the armature is a seal that acts upon the main orifice, either when the coil is de-energised (normally closed) or when the coil is energised (normally open). This reveals the orifice, allowing the media to pass through the valve.
The average response time of direct acting solenoid valves ranges from 5 to 25 ms.
Direct-acting solenoid valves are zero bar rated (can operate at zero differential pressure) because the valves do not rely on pilot pressure to operate.
M&M International direct acting solenoid valves can be normally closed or normally open and are also supplied in either 2/2 or 3/2 way configuration.

D262/263 Series - Brass ⅛" / ¼"
The D262 (1/8") and D263 (1/4") 2/2 normally closed direct acting solenoid valves are available in a wide range of pressure ranges, orifice sizes and voltages.
The D262/263 series offers a wide range of flow rates and pressure ratings, with high-pressure variants rated for operating pressures of up to 200 bar with AC coils.
The D262/263 series is available with a range of high-quality seal materials to suit different applications. FKM and EPDM are commonly used for general-purpose applications, while NBR is available for vacuum applications. Filled PTFE seals are used in the steam version of the valve, and ruby is used for the high-pressure version.
The series is also available with options including NPT connections, manual override, and electroless nickel plating.
B297 Series - Brass ⅛"
B297 series 2/2-way, normally closed, direct-acting solenoid valves are available with orifice sizes ranging from 1.0 mm to 3.0 mm. The range offers a choice of flow rates and differential pressure ratings, with some variants rated up to 30 bar.
EPDM or Foodgrade FKM seals are available for the B297 series solenoid valves, as well as options for NPT connections, manual override, and electroless nickel plating.
The B297 valves are suitable for contact with food media as per the EEC Directives and Regulations, contact us for more details.
D298/299 Series - Stainless Steel ⅛" / ¼"
The D298/299 series is a highly adaptable 2/2 normally closed stainless steel solenoid valve range, with D298 (1/8") and D299 (1/4") variants available with EPDM for water and food grade FKM for water, oil, air and aggressive fluids. Kalrez seals are available for use with chemicals, and Ruby seals are used in the high pressure version of the valve.
These solenoid valves are also available in wide range of orifice sizes from 5.0 mm down to 1.2 mm, with a maximum pressure of 200 bar achievable with the high pressure 1.2 mm orifice variant.
D298/299 solenoid valves feature a robust AISI 303 stainless steel body and AISI 430F stainless steel operators with low residual magnetism.
D237/238/239 Series - Brass ¼" / ⅜" / ½"
D237 (¼"), D238 (⅜") and D239 (½") 2/2 normally closed solenoid valves for water, oil and air offer high performance and versatility in a wide range of applications due to being able to be fitted with high quality NBR, EPDM or food grade FKM seals. The D237/238/239 series features a robust Brass (CW617N) body.
To suit a variety of flow rate and pressure requirements, all three sizes of the valve are available with different orifice sizes, ranging from 3.0 mm to 10.5 mm as standard.
The D237, D238 and D239 10.5 mm orifice valve body options can also be supplied for vacuum applications (0 to -0.95 bar). The vacuum versions of this range are configured for vacuum use, they also feature high power, high performance coils with Class H (E180) winding insulation, providing a high level of thermal resistance and reliable operation.
2/2 way Normally Open
RD262/263 Series Normally Open - Brass ⅛" / ¼"
The RD262 and RD263 are highly dependable and adaptable 2/2 way normally open direct acting solenoid valves, with both 1/8" (RD262) and 1/4" (RD263) valve bodies available with a range of different orifice sizes and pressure ratings up to 0-30 bar.
The RD262/263 series features high quality EPDM or foodgrade FKM seals as standard.
The normally open RD262 and RD263 solenoid valves are fitted with high performance class H coils, which offer superior thermal resistance and reliable operation in applications where the coil is energised for extended periods.
The series is also available with options including NPT connections, manual override, and electroless nickel plating.
